PT Semen Gresik (Persero) Tbk is a state-owned company engaged in the cement industry. established in Gresik on 7 August 1957 by the first President with an installed capacity of 250,000 tons of cement per year. On July 8, 1991 Semen Gresik listed on the Jakarta and Surabaya Stock Exchange and is the first state to go public by selling 40 million shares to the public. The composition of shareholders is 73% RI State and society 27%.
To secure supply and help lower its production costs, the company will set up a coal-trading firm in 2011 and further will seek possibility of coal mine acquisition. 30 percent of overall costs is coal consumption cost.
